Caroline Fanning
Caroline Fanning was raised in Amityville, New York, and graduated from Vassar College with a degree in American Culture. In 2007, at age twenty-five, she and her partner, Daniel Holmes, launched Restoration Farm on public parkland in Nassau County. They spent the next 20 years growing food for thousands of Long Islanders, raising two children, and fostering a community devoted to the land. Caroline draws her greatest inspiration from watching plants and people grow. As her career in tenant farming draws to a close, a new chapter in teaching, writing, and non-commercial growing is taking root.
Caroline's monthly newsletter chronicles Restoration Farm stories and lessons from from 2016-2026.Â
Caroline has presented in K-12 classrooms, colleges, libraries, and senior centers, as well as in the field.
